While We Wait...

So, we had all of our paperwork done for our Dossier and we were waiting on our USCIS approval, when we finally received approval, we had to redo one of our medicals. Then it had to be redone for various errors. That was finished and we discovered that we had to be submitted by the following Thursday or else another document would need to be redone. We weren't submitted and so I am currently awaiting a new set of marriage certificates. The life of Dossier preparation...

We decided a week before the Reece's Rainbow Reunion that we would like to go, but the campground was booked solid. I soon received a message that there was a cabin available for the two nights we wanted to go. YAY!!! One of the only pictures of me posted publicly beside our fabulous stateside coordinator Nancy.

This was the adorable little cabin that we stayed in that converted our family from tent campers to cabin campers!

It was a fabulous weekend, way too short, but I am so glad that we got to go and connect with other families who have made this same journey.

Now onto finishing house projects in preparation for adding a few blessings to our family!
This next weekend we have a yard sale adoption fundraiser.
Lots of work to be done!

Thirty-One Gifts Fundraiser!

We have a Thirty-One Gifts fundraiser starting tomorrow and running until the 14th.
(This has been extended until Wednesday, April 23.)

We have a lot of money to still raise and likely only a few weeks in which to do it!

We are officially approved for two children.
We have not identified the second one, as of yet.
We are still working on our puzzle fundraiser. Pieces are $10 each, donate to our Reece's Rainbow account and let me know how many pieces you purchased. I will write your name on them.
When the puzzle is finished, we will frame it in a double glass frame, so that we can be reminded of who helped us bring our children home.

I put up  a thermometer to keep track of our fundraising progress.
These numbers reflect what we will need to bring home three children. Two from the same orphanage and one from a different orphanage, same region.

The total is minus an available child specific grant that is available to us.
Once we identify the other two children, I will make needed adjustments to the thermometer.

Thank you for helping to bring our boy home!

Here we are in a new year and on a new adventure.

We are almost finished with our homestudy and have a lot of our Dossier in process.

USCIS was sent in right after we committed to Sutter, as he turns 16 in February.

Everything is going great, except fundraising.

We have the calendars still available.

We also have a t-shirt fundraiser going on, it ends February 5

We are hoping to add 2-3 kiddos, depending on what we are approved for...and NO, I don't need suggestions as I have a list of at least 10 already. :)

Have a Great Day!

There are so many children who need advocates and I am so busy with family life and our own adoption, but for this ONE, I can not be silent.

You see, many years ago on a March 13th, I lost a most untreasured treasure. I lost my dad, sure, he had issues, but when he could focus on being a dad, he was amazing and the thing I miss the most, is that he loved me, not because of my school grades or what I had acomplished, not because of my talents, but simply...because I was HIS. That's it, I was his and he loved me. I was 16 on that day, that day he left forever.

March 13, 2014, will be 24 years, since that day.

March 13, 2014, THIS little girl, this most untreasured treasure will be lost unless a mommy and a daddy claim her as their own. Unless they love her, not because of her grades or her acomplishments or talents, but simply because she is their daughter.
On that day, Salome will be 16.

Please, someone see her, love her.

My Heart....(part 2)

Active's something that can't be can't be happens, as a natural force does what it knows to do.
Adoption can be the same, being propelled along when you really didn't plan on it. Not your timing, not in your budget, paperwork that makes all other paperwork look like nothing. Mountains so high, that can't be moved or walked over by us.
All for that face, that face that you have waited your whole life looking for, even when you didn't realize who you were looking for. In all the doubt, the ridiculousness of it, I see that face in my mind and I know that he is mine and I can rest in that.

Join us as we begin our journey, to bring our little( or not so little) man home from a far away land.

For Hanson, once upon a time, I had looked long and hard at you and considered bringing you into our home. But, I chose to reject you and now you have gone to Jesus. So very sorry little guy, Jesus is all the family you need now.

Racing for Orphans with Down Syndrome

from- Brady Murray at

My family and I have loved being able to work on behalf of the children on Reece's Rainbow since finding this great organization.  It's for this reason that I had a hard time sleeping because of the excitement after hearing about this announcement!

Two months ago, Ironman announced a contest called Kona Inspired.  How it works is they have given the general public an opportunity to submit a 90 second video based around the theme, "Anything is Possible".  Winners receive a spot to race in the Ironman World Championship in October, but most importantly, they will race as a media athlete and have the opportunity to share their story on NBC's nationally televised broadcast of the championship this year!  THIS COULD BE OUR OPPORTUNITY TO SHARE THESE PRECIOUS CHILDREN'S STORY WITH THE WORLD!!!

After reading Ironman's press release we immediately went to work.  This is an opportunity to help these children in a way that I never imagined possible!  The video came together with the help of many wonderful people and we submitted it.  105 videos were submitted.  After over a month long preliminary public voting, we just received word that we are one of the top 15 videos and will compete in the final round of voting June 4 - June 18!!!

Please take a moment to WATCH, VOTE, and SHARE our video as much as possible throughout the day from your home computer, work computer, laptop, phone, etc!  We need to be in the top 2 videos at the end of the day on June 18.

Thank you for your time and willingness to make the dream of these orphans of finding their forever family a reality!

My Heart....(part 1)

To my children, those I know and those I don't,

I want to ask you, "Where is your heart? What are you willing to sacrifice? Are you willing to sacrifice?"
These are questions that we must all ask ourselves, along this journey of life. Do we love Jesus? Are we willing to be a little uncomfortable sometimes? To move beyond our comfort zone for Him?
No matter how you slice it, here in America we all are rich. Most other countries, know true poverty. What can we do? What should we do? How far can we go before we tire of people calling us crazy? How far are we willing to go to find true JOY? Where is true JOY found?
